Hair Extensions Salons or stylist

Hair Extensions Salon Directory

A good way to find a hair extension stylist is a recommendation from someone you know that has hair extensions.  Of course many women that have hair extensions certainly don’t want anyone to know, so this approach may be difficult.

Contact Hair Extension Company Directly
After you have narrowed down your choices to 2-3 different hair extension methods, you can contact those companies directly to find a trained and certified hair stylist that is close to you.  Many of the hair extension companies have their own website and list all the certified and trained stylists directly on the site, or they have a toll-free number that you can call.  By calling the extension companies directly, you can be assured that you are getting the contact info for a certified and trained stylist.  There are many salons/stylists that advertise being certified and trained for a specific hair extension method when in fact they are not.

Do a Google/Yahoo Search
The search engines today are a great resource for finding products and services.  Just enter in your requirements, i.e. ‘XYZ hair extensions in City, State’  Usually a salon or stylist that offers hair extensions has a website, and if the site is indexed in the search engine you will be able to quickly locate a hair extension salon in your area.

Ask your current salon

If the salon that you go to does not offer hair extensions, they might be able to recommend a salon that does.

We have found hair extensions salons for many visitors around the world.  Just put ‘find hair extension salon near city/state/country’ in the subject line, and our staff will try to locate several salons in your area.

Of course, just because you have found 2-3 hair extension salons in your area does not guarantee anything.  You still will need to do your own research to verify that the salon is reputable and the hair extension method they offer is suitable for your hair situation.

It may be a good idea to do some initial research on the salon or stylist before your schedule your hair extension consultation.  Some salons will charge a fee, typically $25-75 for the consultation.  There is no use paying for a consultation if you find any red flags before you even go there.

Does my stylist need to be certified or licensed? Many hair extension companies require formal training and certification to attach/remove their particular method of hair extensions. You will need to verify with the specific hair extension company that the stylists you are considering is properly trained and certified.

There are also many methods that do not require a formal certificate or training classes. In this case, you will need to verify what type of training the stylists has taken and how many hair extension clients she has. It is a good idea to go with a licensed cosmetologist. Cosmetologists are licensed by the Board of Cosmetology in each U.S. State. You can visit the websites of these boards and verify licenses, as well as finding out if any complaints have been filed against the stylist or salon. Also, you can file a complaint with the Board of cosmetology concerning a licensed cosmetologist.

If you go with someone who is not a licensed cosmetologist, you are not only taking a big chance, but you will not be able to file any complaints since they are not licensed. Just because a complaint has been filed against a salon or stylist doesn’t necessarily mean that you should cross that stylist/salon off your list. Some clients are never happy about any service they receive and constantly file lawsuits and complaints concerning every aspect of their lives. Proceed with caution, and maybe address this directly with the stylist.
